ABOUT THE REPORT
In the fall of 2013, PHA responded to a request by the Capital Region Collaborative to create a Regional Housing Plan.  The idea of a comprehensive housing plan came as a result of 85 community conversations and two community surveys that showed broad public sentiment that the Richmond region has quality of housing issues for low income residents.

PHA engaged the Virginia Center for Housing Research (VCHR) at Virginia Tech and VCU’s Center for Urban and Regional Development in early 2014 to gather the relevant local data and to seek public input from interviews, surveys and a workshop that was held on November 21, 2014. The resulting report, Housing the Richmond Region: Needs, Impediments, and Strategies, was released on March 31, 2015 at a symposium at the University of Richmond’s Jepson Alumni Center.

PHA is working with stakeholders across the region to facilitate the report’s implementation.  Our progress will be measured against metrics that are currently being developed by VCHR, and we will provide regular updates about the plan’s impact on the region.
